Choosing a Nic Salt Strength: 20mg, 35mg or 50mg
Short answer: 20mg nic salt is the milder common strength, 50mg is the strongest widely sold, and 35mg sits between them where brands offer it. Choose the level you already use rather than the strongest on the shelf. Dizziness, nausea or a headache mean it’s too strong: stop and drop a band.
What the numbers mean
The figure is milligrams of nicotine per millilitre of liquid. 20mg equals 2%, 35mg equals 3.5% and 50mg equals 5%. So a 50mg liquid carries two and a half times the nicotine of a 20mg one, millilitre for millilitre.
Choosing between bands
- 20mg: the usual starting point for adult pod and disposable users.
- 35mg: a middle step, offered by some brands.
- 50mg: the strongest common option, for adults already used to heavy nicotine intake.
Stronger isn’t better. It’s just stronger. If you’re unsure, the lower band is the safer first choice.
Signs a strength is too high
Feeling light-headed, queasy or getting a headache after vaping are common signs of too much nicotine. Stop, get some fresh air, and choose a lower strength next time.
